Embedable Logo for Your Sponsors to Put on Their Website.

A look at a few benefits to taking the extra step.
A Sample Logo for a charity.

We recently added a badge to our site that let people know that we supported climate change. It was a simple logo that we were easily able to embed onto our site. The reason we did it, was pure selfishness. We support the earth. By making this small gesture, it helped Brighter Planet to offset 350 pounds of carbon.

So, how did embedding their logo onto our site reduce carbon on our planet? The small gesture of placing their logo on our site didn't directly remove 350 pounds of carbon. It helped generate the awareness for the fight against climate change and hopefully drummed-up more support for their cause. Intimately, it provided more exposure for that charity. Isn't this one of the main goals for most charities?

So, what's the best approach for Non-profits to be able to do this too?

First, identify a reason for your users to put your charity's logo their site. The reason has to be tangible; not just for the greater good. Examples: By placing our organization's badge on your company's site, you will help to one family put food on the table, encourage one person to be able to read, or facilitate the planting of 10 trees. You get the point. Remember, there is no direct relationship between them putting your logo on their site and the planting of ten trees. It is a way for them to help get you exposure. And that exposure will bring support; hopefully the financial kind. ;)

It is all about perception. The user feels they have directly impacted change, with a couple of clicks with a mouse. The easier it is, the more people will do it. Until eventually, your logo is on every site getting 100x more exposure than doing nothing.
